Autumn on the Roads and the Return of a Giant: What You Need to Know This Week
Shorter days, wet asphalt, and increasingly often fog behind the visor – for motorcyclists, autumn is a completely different game than summer. This week we're looking at fresh road accident statistics that show how the nature of risk changes at this time of year, as well as one of the biggest premieres in the superbike world: the Kawasaki Ninja H2 is back in a new form for the 2027 model year.

Autumn hazards: fewer accidents, but a different kind of risk
Police data leaves no room for illusions – autumn can be treacherous for motorcyclists, even if statistically there are fewer incidents than at the height of the season. In September, 311 accidents involving motorcyclists were recorded, in which 26 people died [1]. That's fewer than in July or August, but the analysis points to something more important than the raw numbers: the nature of the risks is changing. Wet leaves piling up on the road, morning dampness, and increasingly frequent fog limiting visibility are factors that motorcyclists practically never have to contend with in summer [1].
The scale of the problem over the course of the whole year is striking. In 2025, motorcyclists and their passengers were involved in a total of 2,378 accidents, in which 197 people lost their lives [1]. It's a reminder that even as the motorcycle season draws to a close, those last autumn rides demand more caution than the numbers on the thermometer alone would suggest. Taking leaf-covered bends more slowly, leaving a bigger gap from other vehicles, and adjusting speed to reduced visibility are basics that are easy to forget after months of riding in dry, sunny conditions. This data is also a good starting point for a conversation about clothing and protective gear suited to worse weather – a topic that has featured at the Warsaw Motorcycle Show for years.

Kawasaki Ninja H2 for 2027: the supercharged legend returns
From safety, we move on to pure technology and adrenaline. Eleven years after the original model's debut, Kawasaki is preparing the second generation of its flagship supercharged sportbike – the Ninja H2 [2]. It's one of the most anticipated premieres in the superbike segment, since the H2 has been a showcase of the Japanese manufacturer's technological capabilities from the very start, and one of the very few series-production motorcycles fitted with a supercharger.
The new generation will arrive in three versions: a road-going model producing 209 hp, a track-only H2R exceeding 300 hp, and a limited Carbon edition [2]. The changes go beyond cosmetics. Kawasaki's engineers have redesigned the supercharger impeller and intake system, as well as the pistons and crankshaft – elements that directly affect how power is delivered and the character of the engine [2]. Equally significant modifications await in the suspension: a KYB AOS-II front fork and an Öhlins TTX36 rear shock with an electronically controlled steering damper are meant to provide better control over a motorcycle whose power has always commanded respect, even among experienced riders [2].
The H2's return is a signal that the segment of high-performance, supercharged motorcycles is still going strong, and that manufacturers aren't afraid to invest in technology aimed at a narrow but highly engaged group of power and engineering enthusiasts.
